For the teacher in the room
Maybe the same transition keeps unraveling. A student puts their head down as soon as work begins. An adult response that helped yesterday adds pressure today. You leave wondering what you missed—and what to do tomorrow.
This group gives teachers a place to examine those moments with support, think through the conditions around behavior, and build more confidence in their next decision.
For general and special education teachers supporting students with a range of learning and regulation needs, including students with and without IEPs.
What we will work on
INSPECT helps us examine the adult, environmental, instructional, and team conditions shaping the moment.
Look at what happens before shutdown, refusal, disruption, or escalation. Identify the task, transition, environment, and adult response that deserve a closer look.
Use INSPECT to consider what you can adjust: your own urgency, the environment, structure, task access, engagement, consistency, and time.
Work through a real classroom situation, choose a manageable next step, and reflect on what you notice as you apply it with your team.
How the coaching works
Use the group to connect the framework to the reality of your classroom: the students, routines, demands, and supports already in place.
Start with what you can observe, what happened beforehand, and how adults responded.
Consider which conditions may be adding pressure and what could make participation more accessible.
Identify a next step that fits your role and aligns with the student’s existing supports and your school team.
