Private Family Coaching

You have already tried everything.

Eight weeks of private coaching for parents of neurodivergent kids, built on one idea: each week, we identify the move most likely to make life more workable for your family now.

Start with the intake

$300. Three families at a time.

You know the moment

You can feel it building before anyone says anything.

There is a change in the room, a certain kind of quiet, or a sound that means the next ten minutes are already decided. You say the thing you have said forty times. It lands the way it always lands.

An hour later everyone is quiet and nobody is okay, and you are standing in the kitchen wondering how you became the person who ruins the afternoon.

You are not doing this wrong.

You are doing something that does not work, over and over, because nobody has ever helped you see where the pattern actually starts.

Why the advice has not worked

Most of it was aimed at the explosion.

You have read the books. You have watched the videos at 11pm. You have tried the charts, the timers, the calm voice, the firmer voice, the reward system that worked for eleven days.

The explosion is the loudest part of the pattern and the least changeable part. By the time it arrives, it has been building for twenty minutes, or three hours, or since Tuesday. Everything that would have made a difference happened earlier, somewhere you were not looking.

That is not a discipline problem. It is a visibility problem.

“You cannot consequence a nervous system into feeling safe.”

What this is

Private coaching for your family. One useful move at a time.

Not a course. Not a group. Not a curriculum you work through alone at your kitchen table at midnight.

01

One question.

The one that matters this week.

02

One insight.

Only the idea your family needs right now.

03

One useful move.

Something you can actually do on a bad day.

04

One small practice.

Realistic when someone is sick and the day already went badly.

Eight strategies handed to an exhausted parent become zero strategies by the third hard week. One at a time is not a simplification. It is the mechanism.

Who this is for

If the daily pattern is the problem, you are in the right place.

  • Your child is neurodivergent, whether that is ADHD, autism, sensory processing differences, a PDA profile, a learning difference, or a working theory you are still holding.
  • The daily pattern is the problem: refusals, avoidance, shutdowns, explosions, or a standoff over a task that should take four minutes.
  • You have already tried the free stuff, and often therapy, and something is still not moving.
  • You want direction, not another framework to feel behind on.
  • You are willing to look at your own first move, not because you are the problem, but because it is the part of the loop you can actually change.

Most families I work with are dealing with some version of the same two things: a child who says no, and a child who disappears when something is asked.

Who this is not for

I would rather tell you now than take your money and find out in week four.

  • Anyone in your home is in immediate danger.
  • Your child is currently harming themselves, or talking about not wanting to be here.
  • There is current abuse in the home.
  • You are looking for a diagnosis or an evaluation.

This is coaching. It is not therapy, diagnosis, medical care, or a crisis service. If this is where you are now, you need a different kind of help first. I will point you toward it. That is part of what the intake is for.

How it works

Start with a shared map, not a blank page.

01

The questionnaire.

About 25 minutes. It starts with what your child is good at, because no one ever asks that, and it is the part I need most. You do not have to prepare or get it right.

02

The intake conversation.

45 to 60 minutes, its own appointment. Because I have already read everything you wrote, we do not spend it on history. We spend it on your family’s actual pattern.

03

Your Family Rewire Snapshot.

Within 5 business days. Two shareable pages: who your child is, the loop costing you the most, what may be underneath it, the earliest signal, and one measurable goal in your own words.

04

Eight weekly sessions.

Session 1 opens with that Snapshot on the table. We start from a shared map instead of a blank page.

The eight sessions

Less information. More precision. One useful move at a time.

01

Map the loop.

Map one recurring moment completely. Find the point where the pattern stops being fixable and where a different move can still matter.

02

Understand the signal.

Same behavior, different needs. Replace certainty with a working theory and test a more accurate starting point.

03

Make contact cost less.

If contact predicts a question, reminder, or task, your child may protect themselves from contact itself. Change what interaction predicts.

04

Change one condition.

Before asking your child to change, adjust timing, pace, verbal load, number of steps, or recovery time around one hard routine.

05

Change the first adult move.

Build one move you can reach for while flooded, connect it to an early signal, and practice it until it sounds like you.

06

Restore real agency.

Give your child a real way to communicate need, timing, and limit, so resistance does not have to carry the whole message.

07

Boundaries and repair.

Separate the limit from its delivery. Hold what matters without turning the moment into a showdown.

08

Keep what works.

Throw out what did not fit. Leave with three practices and a one-page Family Rewire Plan that works without me.

What is included

You are supported between insight and real life.

Both parents are welcome at no additional cost. Co-parents in the same session are preferred where possible.

Your child may join from Session 6 onward if you, they, and I all agree. Never required.

What parents say

A different response changes more than the moment.

“His insights changed how we understood our child and what we did in the moments that used to derail our whole family.”

The investment

You are never more than one session in before you decide.

The $300 intake is nonrefundable because the Snapshot is real work and it is yours whether or not we continue. Session 1 is billed on its own. If you stop after it, you have spent $475 and keep everything.

If you continue, the rest is split into two payments of $612.50, one before Session 2 and one before Session 5.

Credit, Affirm, and Apple Pay accepted.

Logistics without the fine-print fog

Clear structure, with room for actual family life.

Weekly sessions

Weekly is what produces movement. Every other week turns eight weeks into four months and the pattern goes cold between visits.

Virtual or local

Same rate either way. One-time travel fee: $25 for 5 to 15 miles, $50 for 15 to 25 miles. Beyond 25 miles, virtual.

Rescheduling

Give 24 hours notice and we move it within the same or following week. One no-fault reschedule is included, no notice needed.

16-week window

Your eight sessions are good for 16 weeks from Session 1, making room for illness, travel, and hard weeks without letting the work go cold.

Three families at a time

That is the whole capacity. It is the number of families I can hold well while working full time.

Dr. David A. Palmer

About me

I am Dr. David A. Palmer.

I have spent 30 plus years in general and special education as a teacher, specialist, and principal. I hold an Ed.D. in Special Education. I am a TEDx speaker and a contributing author to the Amazon #1 bestseller Building Bridges.

I have sat on both sides of the table. I have been the principal in the meeting, and I have been the parent in the kitchen at 6pm wondering how it went sideways again.

This is not gentle parenting and it is not behavior management. It is regulation first: we look at what a nervous system is doing before we look at what a child is choosing.

I am not a therapist and I do not diagnose. What I am good at is seeing the pattern you are too close to see, and handing you one thing at a time.

Questions, answered plainly

You do not have to arrive certain.

Is this therapy?

No. This is coaching focused on daily interaction patterns at home. It is not therapy, diagnosis, or medical care. Many families also see a therapist, and that can be a good combination. If what you need is clinical, I will say so at intake.

My child does not have a diagnosis. Does that matter?

No. A working theory is enough. Plenty of families arrive with questions rather than answers.

What if my co-parent will not participate?

You can do this alone and it works. Bring them if you can. If you cannot, we build for the reality you actually live in, including what happens when the two of you respond differently.

What if I do not do the practice?

Then we talk about why, and make the practice smaller. Nothing in this program grades you. If you did nothing all week, that is information I need, not a problem you have to hide.

What if it does not work?

Some of it will not. Session 8 includes what did not fit your family. What I can commit to is that you will end this knowing your child’s pattern better and holding one page that works.

Can you help with school?

Not inside this program. School support is separate work, and I do it: meetings, IEPs, 504s, teacher communication, and building a team that understands your child.

How fast will things change?

I will not promise relief on a timeline. What I will promise is direction. You leave Session 1 with the loop mapped and something specific to do.

What happens after the eight weeks?

You keep the plan. Returning families can book a single session anytime, without a new intake, when something shifts or the plan needs adjusting.
